Description of the Works
Viktor Ekimowskij
"Kites Flying" for descant recorder quartet (1992)
"His work, which in its style, content and instrumentation is exceptionally unusal, has links with ironical and grotesque traditions which exist in Russia. Despite this apparently lighthearted facade his music almost always contains something upon which to reflect: In his own way Ekimowskij reflects on the joy of life, death and on the threatening nature of our world."
Hans-Jürg Meier
"presso il passo di cristallina" for 2 Renaissance recorders (1993)
"The literal experience of surprising silence shortly before the mountain pass proceeded this piece."
Peter Streiff
"Carried Granite" for voice, 3 recorders, 2 viola da gamba and small percussion (1993)
"Slowness polarised against speed. Slowness in resistance to these superficial times of experience. A permanent lingering in time and place at a slow pace. Speed as a tendency for flight."
Rudolf Kelterborn
"Spektren," Quartet for Recorders (1993)
"The title Spektren applies to different musical parameters. In the areas of colour, registration and movement the piece becomes as it were, filtred out areas of specific volume and space."
Alexander Grinberg
"Mantras" for 7 recorders (1992) "The piece was inspired by one of the practices of yoga meditation. It's essence consists in pronunciation by turns (collectively or individualy) of seven special syllables Mantras , which correspond to seven energetic centres of the human being."
